Secretary of the Navy Direct Mail Campaign Materials In the Mail A number of loyal retired Sailors and Marines are calling the Society, or visiting one of our offices to inquire about this year’s annual direct mail campaign. Please have a little patience. This year’s mailing was delayed but it is in the mail and should reach you within the next week or two. You may disregard the statement within the package that says “ALLOTMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 10 MAY 2009.” Charitable allotment donors have until June 1, 2009, to submit an allotment contribution. And, of course, we accept check donations throughout the year. In 2008, the Society disbursed $44.2 million in interest-free loans and grants in response to 77,754 requests for financial assistance – including requests from 2,571 retired Sailors and Marines. Those statistics reflect a 50% increase in casework since 2006, and mark 2008 as the busiest year since 1994! In today’s unstable economy, your Shipmates and Fellow Marines need your support more than ever. Thank you for your stalwart and generous support. Effective: 29 April 2009
