One of the key elements of the Society’s Vision Statement is the commitment to assisting personnel of the Naval Services – active, retired, and their eligible family members – to achieve financial self-sufficiency. In order to accomplish that, we devote considerable attention and significant resources to educate, empower and partner with our client in implementing the basics of responsible money management.

Services Available

Budget Reviews. All NMCRS locations can help servicemembers and their families review and understand their monthly budget and make recommendations for improvements. Assistance to Commands. At most locations, Society staff are available to assist commands in providing personal financial management education. Annually, NMCRS presents money management seminars, workshops, and education for thousands of people. This training includes:

  • Command Financial Management Specialist support
  • Formal Budget for Baby Workshop presentations
  • Briefings, including basic information, pre-deployment, and personal financial management portions of general military training.

If you are interested in scheduling or attending this training, contact the closest NMCRS office for information about opportunities in your area.

Family Seminars and Workshops. NMCRS conducts seminars and workshops for family groups. The most popular is our Budget for Baby workshop. This 1½-hour seminar is conducted regularly at many of our sites and is open to Navy and Marine families who are expecting or recently welcomed a baby into their family. The goal is to help make service members and their families aware of the increased living expenses that come with a new baby, and to discuss effective ways of making adjustments to spending and saving habits. A family who attends the seminar or receives a one-on-one “Budget for Baby Workshop” will receive a free layette from the Society that contains many useful baby items and a special gift from a Society volunteer.

Contact your nearest NMCRS location for information on seminar schedules. If the seminar is not available at your location, you can make an appointment to review your budget and help you understand the impact a baby has on the budget.
