Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Bahrain Expands Hours and Services

Arlington, VA, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 - Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) Bahrain is now open 20 hours each week to provide the full range of NMCRS programs and services to Sailors, Marines, and their families stationed aboard Naval Base Bahrain, tenant activities, operational units, and temporarily assigned personnel. “We’re very excited to expand our hours of operation and support to active duty service members and their families stationed here in Bahrain,” stated Jennifer Tourtelotte, Bahrain office Director.

In 2018, NMCRS Bahrain provided $243,000 of financial assistance in the form of interest-free loans and grants to 195 service members stationed in Bahrain. The office will continue to provide need-based financial assistance for emergency travel, relocation expenses, and other unexpected costs associated with overseas assignments. With expanded office hours, NMCRS Bahrain can now offer Budget for Baby® workshops, expand appointments for one-on-one budget counseling and financial education, as well as provide more support to commands and command financial counselors with briefings and training.

“Expansion also means we need more volunteers,” said Tourtelotte. “Volunteers are the cornerstone of the Society. They really make things happen in our office. We have fun, we’re actively engaged, and we support each other while serving our community.” To volunteer with NMCRS Bahrain, email or call DSN is 318-439-2914

The office is located aboard Bahrain Naval Base in Building 100 Room 130A and is now open Sunday – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides financial assistance and education to active duty and retired members of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, their eligible family members and survivors – when in need. NMCRS is staffed by more than 4,000 volunteers and a small cadre of employees, in offices around the world – both ashore and aboard ships. For more information visit
