Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society
Expands Services Offered in Dahlgren

Arlington, VA, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 – The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) will expand services available to active duty Sailors and Marines at their Dahlgren, Virginia office to include Quick Assist Loans (QALs).  The NMCRS Dahlgren will kick off their Quick Assist Loan Service on Tuesday, August 4.

Sailors and Marines must apply for a QAL in person at the Dahlgren office, located on the Naval Support Facility Dahlgren in the Fleet and Family Service Center at 6027 Schoolhouse Lane, Suite 208. Staffed by volunteers, NMCRS Dahlgren is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“This is a great transition for our Dahlgren office.  Adding QALs to all the other services we provide in this remote area will strengthen the readiness of our service members stationed on the base or assigned to training and other Commands in the surrounding area,” said Melodie Weddle, Director, NMCRS Washington Navy Yard, who oversees the NMCRS Dahlgren office.”

QALs are short-term, interest-free loans for up to $500 that are available to active duty Navy and Marine Corps service members facing an emergency or other urgent financial situation.

Sailors and Marines applying for QALs must bring their Active Duty ID card and current LES.

Other services offered by the Dahlgren office include assistance with emergency travel, budget for baby, disaster relief, and financial and budget counseling.
