NMCRS Named One of Nonprofit Times 2014 ‘Best Nonprofits to Work For’

Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society’s employees highlighted their ability to make a difference for Marines and Sailors as the leading factor in their job satisfaction, followed closely by the esprit de corps and camaraderie they enjoy throughout the organization.

A total of 152 of the 221 (69%) full-and part-time employees responded to the questionnaire.  When tallied by the NonProfit Times, their responses resulted in the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society ranking in the Top 50 best nonprofits to work for.  Since its founding, the Society has relied on volunteers to carry out the day-to-day mission of providing financial assistance to Navy and Marine Corps servicemembers, their families, widows and orphans.   “We could not have achieved this without the enormous support of our 3,800 volunteers who serve in our offices and on ships around the globe, every day” stated Brenda Sullivan, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society HR Director.  “They are also vital members of our team.”

The NonProfit Times was launched in April 1987 and publishes news, business information and original research concerning the nonprofit industry.  Their April issue reports results from an 81-question survey used to collect information about benefits, policies, practices and other information for each 501(c)3 that participated, and another confidential 76 question  Employee Engagement & Satisfaction Survey completed by employees to evaluate the workplace experience and organization culture.  Rankings and other information about nonprofits that participated in the Times research is available at
