Military aid societies embark on fourth-annual #GivingTuesday fundraising campaign to raise money to support military families in need.
WASHINGTON (November 17, 2025) — The combined forces of Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS), Air Force Aid Society (AFAS), Army Emergency Relief (AER), and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) have announced their intent to come together on #GivingTuesday for the fourth consecutive year to raise crucial funds for military service members and their families.
The government shutdown, combined with the holidays, could have long-term impacts and that’s why it is especially important that this year’s #GivingTuesday efforts are a success. All the military aid societies are going above and beyond to support service members and their families affected by the shutdown and want to be further prepared to support them into the New Year and beyond.
This year’s campaign theme, entitled #MakeGivingYourSuperpower, will be conducted on social media with the goal of securing critical funds to provide service members and their families around the world with vital emergency relief, financial support and educational resources. The theme was chosen as a challenge to Americans to step up, suit up, and make giving their superpower for the heroes who serve our country every day.
Unfolding across social media platforms on #GivingTuesday, December 2, 2025, supporters are encouraged to visit missionGIVE.us, where they can allocate their contributions to one or more of the four military aid societies.
Lockheed Martin, a global defense technology company driving innovation and advancing scientific discovery, has extended a generous proposal to match every gift made during #MakeGivingYourSuperpower on #GivingTuesday, up to a sum of $1 million. This substantial matching pledge guarantees that donations to these transformative military aid societies will yield double the impact for military members and their families.
“#MakeGivingYourSuperpower is a call for all of us to stand behind those who serve our nation,” said retired U.S. Coast Guard Cmdr. Brooke A. Millard, CEO of CGMA. “Thanks to Lockheed Martin’s generous matching gift, every donation made in support of our mission will go twice as far, empowering even more military families through the work we do day in and day out for those who serve our country.”
Each year, the four military aid societies representing the Army, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Navy and Marine Corps distribute millions of dollars to support military members, retirees and their families facing financial crisis or in need of emergency relief. In some cases, they also provide grants and interest-free loans for educational needs and administer innovative programs designed to address the unique challenges military members face.
"Together, our four military aid societies are launching #MakeGivingYourSuperpower to provide vital support to service members and their families as they navigate the unique demands of military life,” said retired Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Robert R. Ruark, NMCRS president and CEO. “Through this united effort, we’re ensuring that every member, regardless of the branch, has access to the essential resources they need to stay mission-ready when life throws the unexpected their way."
"I’m fully confident that both longtime supporters and new donors will rally once again this #GivingTuesday, making this annual campaign a powerful success for the brave service members who protect our nation," said retired Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael A. Grinston, CEO of AER.
Commencing in 2012 as a “Global Day of Giving,” #GivingTuesday has galvanized countless individuals to rally behind their cherished causes. To donate to one or more of the military aid societies and have it doubled as a result of generous support from Lockheed Martin, visit missionGIVE.us.
"Beyond major life events, military families face a range of challenges that often go unnoticed such as rising inflation, global tensions, frequent deployments, natural disasters and more, all of which add unique pressures to an already demanding way of life," said retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Ed Thomas, AFAS’s CEO. "It’s the ongoing generosity of the public that empowers us to ease many of the burdens and challenges faced by military families."
