Thrift Shops

Sailor entering NMCRS thrift shop

Save big on household goods, uniforms and more

Active duty and retired Sailors, Marines and their families can stretch their dollars a little further by shopping at NMCRS thrift shops. You'll find everything from gowns to sporting goods, from baby gear to dishes. This is a smart way to save if you’ve just moved, or to set up your first home. Our shops also offer discounted Navy and Marine Corps uniforms and accessories (active duty and retirees only).

Thrift shops are run by volunteers—so hours vary. Check the location nearest you for hours.

Some of our locations are uniform-only shops.

Hours

Thrift shop hours vary from site to site. There may be special shopping times for active duty service members and their families. To give our volunteers a break, some thrift shops close during the summer and over some major holidays.

Accepted payment methods

  • Cash
  • Electronic Payments (debit/credit, Apple pay, Google pay, Samsung pay) are an option at many sites. Check with your local thrift shop for payment options.
  • Personal checks may be an option at some sites. Check with your local thrift shop for payment options.

Volunteer

Our thrift shops run smoothly thanks to volunteers who use and develop retail experience. Volunteers may display and organize merchandise, handle cash and sales, or manage a store. If you have a few hours a week to give, learn more about becoming a volunteer here.

Donate items to a thrift shop

Donated merchandise helps us offer low-cost, quality items. Generally, donated items are accepted during regular thrift shop store hours. We carefully inspect all donated items and only offer those in good condition. Check with your local NMCRS thrift shop for hours, donation drop-off location, and acceptable items. If you’d like a receipt for donated items, a shop volunteer can help you.
