service members and their families in need during social media fundraising campaign.
WASHINGTON (December 3, 2025) — On #GivingTuesday, the combined forces of Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS), Air Force Aid Society (AFAS), Army Emergency Relief (AER) and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) raised over $406,000 during #MakeGivingYourSuperpower, a fundraising campaign conducted across social media platforms. For the fourth consecutive year, the goal of the campaign was to secure essential funds to provide service members, retirees and their families with vital emergency relief, financial support and educational resources.
The government shutdown, combined with the holidays, could have long-term impacts and that’s why it was especially important that this year’s #GivingTuesday efforts were a success. All the military aid societies have been going above and beyond to support service members and their families affected by the shutdown and wanted to be further prepared to support them into the New Year and beyond.
“Through #MakeGivingYourSuperpower, the American people truly rose to the occasion, embracing generosity as their superpower to support the everyday heroes who serve our nation,” said retired Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael A. Grinston, CEO of AER. “Thanks to their incredible commitment, we’ve once again raised vital funds for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardians, and Coastguardsmen who proudly wear our nation’s uniform.”
#MakeGivingYourSuperpower unfolded across social media platforms, as supporters were encouraged to visit missionGIVE.us and allocate their contributions to one or more of the four military aid societies.
“I’m deeply proud of the unified efforts of our military aid societies and the American people, whose enthusiastic support continues to uplift our service members and their families,” said retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Ed Thomas, AFAS’s CEO. “Their generosity is a powerful reminder of the strength of our shared commitment to those who serve, and it’s heartening to see such a collective spirit in action.”
For the fourth year, Lockheed Martin, a global defense technology company driving innovation and advancing scientific discovery, generously donated a total of $1 million to the four military aid societies on #GivingTuesday. This substantial pledge made the grand total amount raised at over $1.4 million.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Lockheed Martin and the generous Americans who demonstrated their true superpowers on #GivingTuesday. This incredible generosity will make a meaningful difference in our mission to care for those who selflessly defend our nation,” said retired Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Robert R. Ruark, NMCRS president and CEO.
Commencing in 2012 as a “Global Day of Giving,” #GivingTuesday has galvanized countless individuals to rally behind their cherished causes.
“The success of #MakeGivingYourSuperpower reflects the incredible generosity of those who stand behind our service members and their families,” said retired U.S. Coast Guard Cmdr. Brooke A. Millard, CEO of CGMA. “Thanks to their support, we’re able to ensure help is available when life throws the unexpected their way.”
